Favorite quotes, songs, or scriptures

I don't really have a collection of things I turn to for comfort when I need uplifting. I think I should have some memorized that I can just think of when I'm frustrated with kids or down for some reason. I do love songs so I usually try and sing something in my head. I would love to know of what other people's favorite quotes, songs, or scriptures are when needing comfort or uplifting. If you could give me input I'd love it.

I actually have thought a lot of the song called, "Come, Come Ye Saints." The words are written by William Clayton in 1846 they are the following:

Come, come, ye saints, no toil nor labor fear;
But with joy, wend your way.
Though hard to you this journey may appear,
Grace shall be as your day.
’Tis better far for us to strive
Our useless cares from us to drive;
Do this, and joy your hearts will swell
All is well! All is well!

Why should we mourn or think our lot is hard?
’Tis not so, all is right.
Why should we think to earn a great reward,
If we now shun the fight?
Gird up your loins; fresh courage take;
Our God will never us forsake,
And soon we’ll have this tale to tell,
All is well! All is well!

We’ll find the place which God for us prepared,
In His house full of light,
Where none shall come to hurt or make afraid;
There the saints will shine bright.
We’ll make the air with music ring,
Shout praises to our God and King;
Above the rest these words we’ll tell,
All is well! All is well!

And should we die before our journey’s through,
Happy day! All is well!
We then are free from toil and sorrow, too;
With the just we shall dwell!
But if our lives are spared again
To see the saints their rest obtain,
O how we’ll make this chorus swell,
All is well! All is well!

This song has always touched me. It always amazes me of what the pioneers had to go through. It also helps know that I can go through many of my trials knowing that the Lord will always help me. If you want to listen to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir sing it then click this.

My favorite hymn is one that really inspires me, and lifts me up when I need it. It's "I Know That My Redeemer Lives" hymn 136. I used to go to empty classrooms at BYU when I was there and play it for myself. I just love it.

I love playing a lot of the hymns. They have a comforting safe feeling for me.

Beyond Grateful

I feel a strong urge to shout out my gratefulness to God. I keep thinking today of how blessed I am. I feel so incredibly blessed. I am so happy that I have the knowledge that God is watching over me and helps me find my way. I am so overjoyed that I know, without a single doubt, that He is there for me and everyone else. My crazy life has been in shambles for a long time and yesterday felt like it couldn't get much worse. But today I feel so calm and ready to face my future with optimism. I could have chosen different ways to deal with my problems, but I am glad that I chose this one. I know that I would not feel this peaceful feeling if I chose any other way. I understand better when the prophets in the scriptures talk about having a desire to proclaim the gospel to everyone. Why wouldn't you want to feel such happiness? Any worldly way cannot bring ultimate and long term happiness. So I want to repeat what those prophets have said, "Come unto Christ." He has gone t...

A Noteworthy Quote

"But make no mistake about it, brothers and sisters, in the months and years ahead, events are likely to require each member to decide whether or not he will follow the First Presidency. Members will find it more difficult to halt longer between two opinions.(see 1 kings 18:21) President Marion G. Romney said, many years ago, that he had 'never hesitated to follow the counsel of the Authorities of the Church even though it crossed my social, professional or political life.' "This is hard doctrine, but it is particularly vital doctrine in a society which is becoming more wicked. In short, brothers and sisters, not being ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ includes not being ashamed of the prophets of Jesus Christ. . . . Your discipleship may see the time when such religious convictions are discounted. . . . This new irreligious imperialism seeks to disallow certain opinions simply because those opinions grow out of religious convictions. "Resistance to abortion ...

Listening to Promptings

I have listened and read Elder Scott's talk called To Acquire Spiritual Guidance . I really liked it a lot. It was the first talk of the conference and totally inspiring. It really made me want to practice listening to promptings I recieve and write them down, pray about them and follow through. I have wondered if thoughts that come to my head are just my own thoughts or if they are the Holy Ghost. One thing Elder Scott said was: " I witness that as you gain experience and success in being guided by the Spirit, your confidence in the impressions you feel can become more certain than your dependence on what you see or hear."
